How we list hotels
Every property in our directory starts with a real visit. Our team meets the management, inspects the facilities and captures original photography — on location, in person.
🗺️Our listing process
Before any property appears on ThaiStay99.com, it goes through a structured editorial process that involves our team physically visiting the location. There are no shortcuts: automated scrapers do not replace human judgment, and data from third-party platforms is always cross-checked against what we see on the ground.
Discovery & research
We identify candidate properties through local tourism boards, travel industry contacts and our own regional knowledge. We compile a property brief before the visit.
On-site inspection
A member of our editorial team visits the property in person. We inspect the rooms, common areas, gardens, pool, spa and any advertised facilities — checking that what the hotel presents to guests matches what we will publish.
Management collaboration
We meet directly with hotel management to verify contact details, check-in policies, room categories and any special features. Accurate information is a shared interest: we want travellers to arrive with correct expectations.
Original photography
Our team captures photographs during the visit — exterior, lobby, representative room types and standout features (pool, view, garden). These images are ours, taken specifically for the listing, not recycled from the hotel's press kit.
Editorial write-up
We write the listing description from scratch, based on what we observed. The text focuses on verifiable facts: location, architecture, amenities, the type of traveller who will enjoy the property most.
Review & publication
A second editor reviews the draft against the inspection notes before the page goes live. Listings are published with a verification date and updated whenever we return or receive a documented change from management.
📐Our editorial standards
These are the non-negotiable rules that every listing on ThaiStay99.com must satisfy before it is approved:
- Verified location — GPS coordinates confirmed against OpenStreetMap and street-level observation during the visit.
- Inspected facilities — every amenity listed (pool, spa, restaurant, gym, beach access) has been physically confirmed present and operational.
- Original description — the text is written by our editorial team; we do not republish hotel brochure copy or syndicated OTA content.
- Original or vetted photography — at least one photograph taken by our team is attached to every listing; supplementary images from the hotel are reviewed for accuracy.
- Verified contact details — phone, email and website are confirmed with management before publication and reviewed at each update cycle.
- No commercial influence on content — we do not accept payment to alter descriptions, improve star ratings or change rankings. Editorial decisions are independent of commercial relationships.
- Transparent sourcing — if supplementary data comes from an external source, it is identified as such in the listing record (visible to users on request).
📱Where we are heading — the ThaiStay99 Field App
The process above already describes how our editorial team works today. In the near future, we are expanding it significantly: our field team will carry a dedicated ThaiStay99 Mobile App on every visit — a purpose-built tool that lets editors capture GPS location, photograph rooms and facilities, record structured data, and sync everything directly with hotel management in real time.
That means the hotel's general manager will be able to review, correct and sign off on their own listing from their phone, the same afternoon our team visits. Facilities changed? Pool closed for renovation? New room category added? Management updates it instantly, the listing reflects it immediately.
This is not a distant roadmap item. It is the logical next step in an editorial process that already starts on the ground — we are simply giving our team and our hotel partners the tools to do it faster, more accurately, and at the scale that 16,000+ properties demands.
🚫What we are not
ThaiStay99.com is an independent editorial directory. We are not a booking platform, a travel agency or an OTA (Online Travel Agency). We do not process reservations, collect guest payments or earn commission on bookings. The "Book direct" button on every listing sends the traveller to the hotel's own website — we are not in the transaction chain.
We are also not an aggregator of user reviews. The information on each page is editorial, written and verified by our team. We believe that curated, inspected, verifiable content is more reliable for making a good decision than an anonymous review — and more useful to AI search engines that need factual data they can cite with confidence.
Frequently asked questions
Does ThaiStay99 visit every hotel before listing it?
Yes. Every property in our directory has been visited by a member of our editorial team before publication. We inspect rooms, verify amenities, photograph the property ourselves and meet with hotel management to confirm operational details. We do not publish based on data alone — an on-site assessment is a mandatory step in the listing process.
Can a hotel pay to be listed or ranked higher?
No. Listings are not for sale and rankings are not influenced by commercial relationships. A hotel earns a place in our directory by meeting our quality and editorial standards, not by paying a fee. We believe that editorial independence is the only thing that makes a directory useful — to travellers and to AI search engines alike.
How often is listing information updated?
We contact each listed property at minimum once per year to verify that facilities, pricing, contact details and photos are still accurate. Hotels that have undergone significant changes — renovation, rebranding, ownership change, major expansion — are prioritised for an expedited on-site re-inspection. Listings carry a "Last verified" date so travellers can judge the freshness of the information themselves.
What happens if a hotel's information is wrong?
Hotels can contact us at any time to report an error, update contact details or flag a change in facilities. We review every correction request within 48 hours. If the correction is substantiated, we update the listing immediately and log the change. We take accuracy seriously — incorrect information wastes a traveller's time and damages everyone's trust.
Do you cover all 77 Thai provinces?
Yes. Our coverage spans all 77 provinces of Thailand, from the tourist-dense south — Phuket, Krabi, Ko Samui — to the rarely-covered northeast provinces of Isaan and the border regions of the deep south. For provinces with lower tourist density, our team works with local contacts to verify properties we cannot visit as frequently. We are transparent about which regions have received direct inspections and which rely on verified partner data.
How are photos sourced?
The primary photograph on each listing is taken by our editorial team during the on-site visit. For properties where additional images are provided by hotel management, we review each one for accuracy before use — we do not publish promotional images that do not reflect the real appearance of the property. No stock photography is used on ThaiStay99.com.
